Getting started and modelling
Getting started
Launch your installed Ramus application. Start with a copy of a model and save your own project file.
Create a model
Open Ramus. This example creates an “Order processing” project using IDEF0.
IDEF0 blocks
Open an IDEF0 diagram. A block represents an activity; name it with an action, such as “Accept order”.
Arrows, labels and tildes
Open an IDEF0 diagram containing blocks. Arrows show the data and objects an activity uses or produces.
Decomposition and tunnels
Open an IDEF0 model and select the block whose activity you want to describe in more detail.
DFD data flows
Create a separate model with File → New project and select DFD. DFD arrows represent data flows between processes, data stores and external entities.
Data and results
Catalogs and attributes
Open a project. Catalogs hold reusable model elements, while attributes describe their properties.
Reports
For this example, prepare a “Documents” catalog with a “Cost” attribute and populated elements.
Import, export and printing
Open a model and save your changes. An .rsf file contains the project, while diagram export and printing create representations of it.
Settings and support
Settings
Open Ramus and the project you want to configure. Application and current-project preferences have different scopes.
Sign in to Ramus
The Ramus website opens in your browser. For local work with .rsf files in the application, use the open and save commands described in this guide.
Report a bug
Reproduce the problem in Ramus. Note the steps, expected result and what actually happened.
